Grading Syllabus

A student must complete a minimum time on each grade as well as reaching the required standards in kihon (basics) before being allowed to attempt their next belt. For each belt a student is tested on a pre-set combination, line drill and kumite drill and must also perform a kata (form). There is one kata for each kyu grade. For black belt levels a student may choose from a selection of katas. For more information about katas in Seitou Ryu click here. Below is the belt system for Seitou Ryu Karate (based on a student who trains 2-3 times a week, and has an average level of fitness and co-ordination).
